E-Fairness Action in Connecticut

On Monday, March 22, 2010 three Connecticut booksellers, Kathryn Fabiani, from R.J. Julia Booksellers, Madison, CT, Suzy Staubach, UConn Co-op, Storrs, CT and Annie Philbrick, of Bank Square Books, Mystic, CT joined ABA's  Senior Public Policy Analyst, David Grogan, at a hearing with Connecticut's Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee to give testimony in favor of an internet sales tax.

As you know, NEIBA and the ABA are committed to fighting for tax fairness. Testimony from all retailers, and especially our booksellers, is crucial in pushing state leaders to require all retailers to collect sales tax - whether they operate online, in bricks and mortar outlets or a combination of both. This is not a new tax nor is it special treatment. E-Fairness is simply the enforcement of existing state tax laws.

The latest word from Connecticut is that is quite likely that an internet sales tax will be implemented. We'll keep you posted. Meanwhile thanks to Kathryn, Suzy and Annie for taking the time to fight the fight!!
